Production FAQs

Why is podcast production priced per episode instead of hourly?

What does “per episode” include?

What if I only need hosting and distribution?

How long can each episode be?

Do I need to commit to a long-term contract?

Can I change packages later?

What’s not included in the base pricing?

Why shouldn’t I just use an AI or low-cost podcast editing service?

How do payments work?

What if I’m not sure which package I need?

Do you offer ala carte services?

Per-episode pricing keeps things simple and predictable. You know exactly what each episode will cost, regardless of how long editing takes behind the scenes. It also reflects expertise and outcomes—not just time spent clicking buttons.

Each package includes all the services listed for that tier—editing, hosting, show notes, and publishing support (where applicable). There are no surprise fees for standard production work. Optional add-ons and ala carte services (like cover creation or rush turnaround) are always discussed upfront.

We can do that. We’re happy to offer a no-frills “hosting only” package for $60 a month. This includes everything listed in the table above under “Host & Distribute” and is a great option for podcasters taking a break. In fact, if you’re a Clock Tower customer who hasn’t recorded an episode in the last 60 days, you’ll automatically be moved over to our “hosting only” list and your episodes will continue to be available. Or we’re happy to provide you with all of the recordings and show note documents and then remove your show from our system. If you’re taking a break or just need hosting, let us know how to proceed!

Pricing assumes up to 30, 45, or 60 minutes per episode, depending on which tier you choose. If your recording runs longer, that’s not a problem—we’ll just charge our standard hourly work rate to reflect the extra editing time. We'll always flag this before moving forward.

No long-term contracts are required. In fact, many clients start with a short run or pilot and continue with month-to-month hosting once they’ve created a nice catalog of episodes.

Absolutely. Many clients start with one package and move up—or simplify—over time. Podcasts evolve, and your production support can evolve with them.

If you need something beyond the listed services, we'll provide a clear quote before doing any additional work.

AI tools and low-cost podcast editing services can clean up sound, but they don’t make editorial decisions, improve clarity or pacing, catch inaccuracies or awkward phrasing, or think about your listeners and why they are tuning in to your podcast. At Clock Tower, our role is to help your podcast sound clear, credible, and intentional—especially important when your name or organization is attached.

Invoices are issued monthly based on the number of episodes produced. Payment is due within the agreed-upon timeframe, and everything is outlined clearly before we begin.

That's very common. If you like, we can meet to talk about your goals, your available time, and your budget. I’ll recommend the simplest package that meets your needs—not the most expensive one. We want to make sure you’re happy—and a returning customer. Just contact me at greg@clocktowermedia.com.

Absolutely. All of our services are offered ala carte, and here’s a short list of them. Most of these are included in our per-episode packages listed above. Need something else? Feel free to reach out.
